Is it considered rude (or just bad practice) to use coupons on a date?

Our campus has these things called "Campus Cash" that they hand out every semester that have a TON of coupons to various venues in the area of our school, I was wondering if it would be considered rude or in some way frowned upon to use some of these on a first date setting. Thanks!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Since you specifically ask about a first date setting, I will focus on that. (I almost went into detail about other dates... but did not want to go off topic.)

Personally, I would not mind because time is tough. I would feel flattered to be taken on a date, and how they pay for it is none of my business. For all I would care, it would be fine if the meal was free because they had a friend or family member in the place where we were eating. Again in my opinion, it does not matter how much was spent on the meal, it is more about the quality of the time spent on the date. Now if I did not think the date was fun, I most likely would think it was silly to pay with a coupon, but if I was having a good time, it would not be so bad.

Would it be rude? NO! You are taking the person out. It is not like you are ripping your date off with a meal. They are still getting the same thing, but just cheaper out of your wallet.

Would it be frowned upon? NOO! In my opinion I think it would be smart. Then the person I am on a date with will have more money for next time we go on a date. LOL.

My brothers girlfriend agrees, as well as my mom. My dad who is old fashion says it might be weird, but if it is needed, go ahead and use it.

If it expires soon, there is your excuse to use it if you need one.

Glad to help! I enjoy asking my family. It helps me know if I am not the only one.

For a college student i think you have a better chance getting away with it than if you were middle aged.
But it really depends on your date and what kind of impression you want to make. I don't think that rudeness is what you should be afraid of. Presenting an image you don't like is the danger here.

If you're upfront and honest and want them to accept you for who you are, and you like to save money and use coupons, then go for it.

But if you want to show off and look cool, pay full price. Unless you can find a cool way to bring the coupon into the conversation, You will have to test your smoothness.

It seems like it would make you appear "cheap" but I guess it really depends on who you're dating.
