Sleeping in frequently is not necessarily a bad thing, unless it is interfering with your life.

Sometimes getting too much sleep can lead to unwanted side effects. For example, headaches can occur when you sleep too much (at least for me!). Also, sleeping in frequently can upset your normal sleeping patterns. If you wake up too late in the day, it can be difficult to fall asleep the next night. If you are sleeping in almost every day, it may be difficult to reset your body sleep in a “normal” pattern.

That being said, if you feel ok and you are still sleeping in, your body just may need that much sleep. If you’d like to get up earlier and need help jumpstarting you day, consider some cardio activity in the morning to help wake you up.

As far as sleep goes, the best strategy is to keep the same sleep schedule every day. If you get up at 6:00 every morning during the week, it can mess up your body if you sleep in until noon on the weekends. That is why it is suggested that you keep your sleep schedule the same as much as possible.

On the other hand, we've all had times when we've missed sleep, and the only way to rectify that situation is to sleep until we're well rested again. Otherwise, you will be dragging until you're able to catch up on your sleep. Most people need at least eight to ten hours of sleep a day, and the more regular your sleep schedule, the better. If you get in the habit of sleeping too much, you may develop insomnia and not be able to sleep simply because you aren't tired. Sleeping too much, or sleeping in late on a regular basis can also be a sign of depression, so you should be aware of that as well. Get regular rest on a relatively even schedule, and you'll be doing your best to feel well rested.
