Is Habitat for Humanity considered a non profit?
Does Habitat for Humanity have a 501c3 on file with the IRS? When did Habitat for Humanity get their non profit status?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello tinews,
Yes, Habitat for Humanity is a non profit organization and is exempted from paying tax. According to the document present at this link a determination letter was issued in 1987 which recognized that Habitat for Humanity was exempt from federal taxes. An additional request was made regarding their tax exempt status in 2004. This letter was sent as a result of that enquiry and it states that they are currently classed as a public charity and therefore are exempt under section 501(c)(3).
As per this document, subordinates listed by Habitat for Humanity are also exempt from federal taxes under section 501(c)(3).
