Is Google Buzz useful?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes, it's useful as long as you can use the technology to facilitate your conversation. Any social media tool is just that, a tool. If you find use in it, then it's useful. If you can use the tool to make your conversation flow, then it's useful. If it makes your communication better, then it's useful. Think of it like e-mail, yet it seems to be more open, or a more open forum. If you do not want to partake in the conversation, then you don't have to. If you want to partake in the conversation you can.

Yes, it is very useful.
Though there are many other social networks. But there are benefits of using Google Buzz.
Google Buzz has features of most popular social networks. You need not add friends. The people you mail often are added to your network. You can have private and public weeds.

More information is available at: http://buzz.google.com

It definitely has potential to be. Here's the thing: people are calling it a Twitter clone when really it's Twitter with all the options and tools you wish you had with it. It's a nice medium between Facebook and Twitter, it has threaded conversations (think commenting on a picture on Facebook), picture/video embedding into a "buzz" (think of having a twitpic just SHOW UP with your tweet next to it), and it's found right in your Gmail taskbar. On top of this, whenever a conversation you're in the middle of updates you get an e-mail sent to your Gmail account to remind you!

but you need to have their email address, right? If it's 'twitter for your friends', isn't that facebook? Why would I start over with 7 friends when I have so many more everywhere else?
I really don't see it.

You need to have your email address but at the same time it auto-follows people you constantly email so you don't even have to go out and seek them. It automatically generates your network as Jason Calacanis said!

On top of that, Facebook is way bulkier than Buzz which is fast and lightweight. You also get updates sent directly to your e-mail.
