is global warming something we should be worried about for the long term viability of our planet?

This is a very debatable topic.
Many people, such as Al Gore think that global warming (especially man made global warming) is going to cause irreversible damage to our planet.
However, there are a lot of scientists that say that global warming is false (even sometimes considered a hoax). There is an excellent documentary on youtube with the science behind this school of thought (see source).
Based on the science that is presented on both sides, I would say that we should not be concerned. A rise in temperatures is only part of the earths normal climate fluctuation. In the 70s there was a "global cooling" scare, and we obviously aren't in another ice age right now/
