Is firefox available for iPad?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

While you CAN find and install a handfull of alternate web browsers for your iPad, Firefox is not one of them. Mozilla has however released the Firefox Home app for iOS devices. This is not a browser, but it lets you sync history, bookmarks and open tabs from Firefox on your computer with the app on your iOS device... this will then allow you to open those pages in the Safari browser included on your iOS device.

No, it is not. Restrictions on the device itself tie you to the Safari browser.

Not entirely true - other browsers are available for the iPad such as Opera Mini (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/opera-mini-web-browser/id363729560?mt=8), so you don't have to use Safari if you don't want to (although why you wouldn't I don't know). Understandably, Safari is the default browser for opening web links etc, as it's built into the OS itself.
Firefox is not available at this time - and Mozilla haven't ruled out creating a version for iOS - because it would a bottom up rewrite of the Firefox codebase to make it function in that operating system, something Mozilla can't commit to doing at this point in time.
