Is closing your eyes in a photo considered to be lucky or not?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you have ever seen the pictures that people used to take of the dead around the turn of the last century, you will know the answer. There are many that believed that if a person's eyes were closed when a picture was taken, that person must be dead, or near death. This started a superstition that if a person's eyes were closed in a picture, it meant that he or she would be close to death.

How about just blinking, is that the same as closing the eyes? Do you have any sources for this answer?
Blinking would be the same as having your eyes closed. When it comes to sources, I have long forgotten where I learned that. I have written two books, and a few hundred articles about horror movie and literature symbolism. To understand the symbolism, an understanding of European superstition is a must.
