Is BioShock filled with violence?

Just how violent is the video game BioShock and is it suitable for my 13-year-old daughter to play? Has any organization ever protested against the bio shock game because of the violent content?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

BioShock is a first person shooter, and like all games in the genre, it can get quite violent. The game's story is also rather dark, dealing with some very dark and adult themes such as murder, corruption, and life in a paradise world gone wrong.

Despite this, there hasn't been any protests against the game's content because it has been unanimously rated as being for "mature" gamers only by every electronic media ratings board in the world, such as the Electronic Software Ratings Board (ESRB), the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), and Pan European Game Information (PEGI). The youngest recommended age that one should start playing the game is 15 in Australia and New Zealand, 17 in the United States, and 18 almost everywhere else.

If you want to get your daughter a video game she can play, perhaps games set in a different genre, such as sports games or fantasy RPGs like Legend of Zelda.

Hi @servicos!

Bioshock is a very mature game (rated M) and is similar to other first person shooters of the suspense/thriller type. Violence is a given and there are scenes which are not suitable to minors. There is even a gameplay mechanic that involves making a moral choice to either save the Little Sisters (those little girls that hang around the Big Daddies) or harvest them to gain more power (in short, killing them).

These situations are obviously not the type you would want to expose to minors such as your daughter so my advice would be to look for another game. I don’t know of any protest groups that went against this game but that shouldn’t matter since she shouldn’t be playing these types of M-rated games in the first place.
