Is Bangkok the easiest city to travel from in Southeast Asia?

If I want to travel throughout the Southeast Asian region, is Bangkok a good home-base? What are the easiest countries to travel to from Thailand?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes, it is. Bangkok, "The City of Angels," is the capital city of Thailand. It has a vast transportation network and it's very easy to go to anywhere in the country by road, water, rail, or air. BTS Skytrain has made traveling around the city much easier.

You can also enjoy the great night life in Bangkok. Visiting fantastic places like Siam Square, Grand Palace, Chao Phraya River, Chinatown, Old City and shopping centers will add to the excitement of your trip. You can go to any country by Thai Airways from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

Bangkok is easy as it has a lot of flight connections to and from different destinations. Within max 3 hrs flights are destinations like Bali, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines, Cambodia even closer... By Air Asia you can get cheap but reliable flights all over SE Asia. Another good regional airline is Bangkok Airways. Don't forget the domestic destinations within Thailand; Chiang Mai in the north, Samui and Koh Chang in the east of the peninsula, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak and still very non touristic Trang and her islands in the south. From Phuket and Samui also international flights are available so you can plan a really nice triangle route or add even more destinations when the long haul international flight arrives and departs in Bangkok.
