First off, bad breath can be chronic but it is preventable and curable but it's definitely not genetic (lol, if it's genetic then pity are those people who belong to 'bad breath families').

Bad breath (also known as halitosis) is a common problem for most people. It is often caused by bacteria and it happens when a person has poor hygiene. The other causes are formation of plaques, teeth cavities and improper brushing. In this case, bad breath can be cured by extracting the decayed tooth (teeth) and regular cleaning. Brushing (including scraping the tongue & brushing the gums) every after meal can also do the trick. Certain foods also can cause it like garlic and onions. But there are also cases in which it could be caused by a serious problem for example are indigestion, stomach ulcer and other colon problems (constipation), some also have bad breath due to sinusitis. Chewing gums, gargling mouthwash and talking are also good ways to prevent bad breath. But the surest way to treat it is to have a good oral hygiene, to have a healthy/regular bowel and to know the root cause for having it.

Yes, I tried many things but what really worked is parsley seed oil. I use this one: http://www.cebanatural.com/deobreath-capsules-200-capsules-p-315-5.html but there are a variety of suppliers in your herbal shop. Terry

Bad breath can be caused by several factors.

One of the most common reasons for bad breath is poor dental hygiene, in other words, people do not clean their teeth often enough or correctly or both.

A good toothbrush is essential and it should be changed as soon as it shows signs of wear. It should also be sterilized regularly, a used toothbrush is full of bugs.

An easy and cheap way to do this is to use Hydrogen Peroxide, H2 O2, which also doubles as a first class mouthwash, killing all the germs in the mouth which can cause not only bad breath, but also gum disease, which can, in turn can cause tooth loss!

An electric toothbrush is a very good investment, it cleans teeth far more effectively than a manual one.

The other common cause of bad breath is from eating strong smelling foods such as onions, curry and the worst offender, garlic!

There can be various illnesses which can cause bad breath, but this is a different issue, these are the usual reasons, which are easily dealt with. It is not likely to be genetic.

Also floss your teeth daily. It gets to the areas that the toothbrush will not reach.
