Yes, Austin is the capital of Texas. In this wonderful city, you get to attend as many live music performances as you want. Austin is the capital of Texas. In 1839, Austin, (then called Waterloo), was chosen to be the capital of the new Republic of Texas. The city was named after Stephen Austin, the "father of Texas". Stephen Austin brought the first settlers to the new territory and the town was fully established by 1845 when Texas was admitted as the 28th state. Today, Austin is the fourth largest city in Texas and 15th most populous city in the country. Austin has grown over the years into the "Live Music Capital of the World" with a number of live performances going on in the city. Austin is also home to four Fortune 500 Companies. The city of Austin though takes more pride in its laid back attitude towards life and its more unusual attractions, like the Mexican bats, the abundant wildflowers, and the performing arts.
