Is AOL dying? Are people still using AOL internet service?

Is AOL still the same power player it was in the 90s? Do you think AOL will be around in 10 years? If so, will it be bigger, smaller, or the same?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think AOL will exist in 10 years, but the number of people using it certainly appears to be decreasing as time goes by. I remember when I first heard about the internet in the 1990's that AOL was the major service that people had. It was the first service that I heard of. All of my friends used it, then gradually that declined. I am not sure if it was the price of service, their internet speed or other issues that caused people to go from AOL elsewhere.

My first service was Netzero. I had that for a few years then switched to Verizon. What I believe is happening is more people are using their cable provider as their internet provider. I know so many people that have Comcast as their service provider. It's faster and easier to have just one bill for everything, phone, cable and internet combined.

I would be surprised if AOL is bigger, my bet would be that it continues to get smaller and wouldn't surprise me if it is not around at all in the next few decades.
