Is anyone else sick of listening to the news coverage of Rep. Wilson's outburst at President Obama's speech on Tuesday?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Definitely! Unfortunately, the "outburst" seems to have eclipsed President Barack Obama's speech in terms of media coverage. It seems as though everyone is focusing on Joe Wilson's outburst, the apology, Obama's acceptance thereof, etc., rather than discussing what was said in the speech and whether the speech changed public or Congressional opinion about that proposed bill. The discourse surrounding the speech has become about the sensationalism, rather than the issue at hand, which is really too bad, in my opinion.

Indeed, although it was a terribly uncivil and an immature thing to do, unfortunate outbursts do happen, people make mistakes and slip up. Honestly, its not something to be ignored, but its also nothing to put such extreme concentration on. It seems, or at least from what I have noticed, if there is one outburst, or something that touches on an issue such as when the Harvard professor ( http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/23/us/23race.html (Link for the Henry Louis Gates Jr. arrest question)) it happens that the speech is ignored and the media covers the most trivial of things.

I give the same weight of interest to any Kevin Federline stunt. I was sick of the coverage almost as soon as it started. That outburst was a stunt and a poor one at that.
