No, the apply is not a citrus fruit
The citrus fruits are tropical or subtropical and are in the family Rutaceae.
The most known citrus fruits are clementine, mandarin,orange, tangerine, lemon, lime and grapefruit
The citrus fruits have a high content of vitamin C. They are a good source of fiber, They contain potassium, calcium, folate, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, phosphorus, magnesium and copper.
The vitamin C
" * Helps the body in the healing process
* Aids in iron absorption
* Helps strengthens body tissues, bones and blood vessels.
* Diets low in fat and rich in fruits and vegetables containing vitamins A and C may reduce the risk of some types of cancer. Citrus and citrus juices are excellent sources of Vitamin C. " (http://gaypak.com.au/health.htm)
Like citrus fruits, apples don't have saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C (though vitamin C lower than citrus fruits) Apples contain many antioxidants which prevent cancer.
Comparatively, per 100 grams an orange has 59.1 mg and apple has 4.6 mg
A grapefruit has 34.5 mg
So as you see these citrus fruits have a much higher level of vitamin C than apple, about 10 times more. On a side note, the grapefruit, even it tastes not so good, it is very beneficial for your health.
