Wind power is the fastest growing energy alternative in the United States right now, and Texas is ranked as the number one state in the production of wind energy, so I think it’s safe to answer yes to your question.
For a wind farm to successfully produce energy while remaining cost effective, they currently need a constant wind of about 10 mph. A wind map shows the panhandle region of Texas has the largest area of high quality winds. The gulf coast also boasts strong ocean breezes throughout the year. The Trans-Pecos area has the strongest winds; however, these can change, so sites in this area have to be scouted extensively.
