Is a career as a dental hygienist a dead end job?
A sister is torn between being a dental hygienist, an accountant or a middle school teacher. Dental Hygienist seems to be winning but I am skeptical. Do I have reason to be?

Apart from the 64K, what are one's aspirations after becoming a certified DH? Are you stuck cleaning teeth in a dentist's office forever? After you get tired of cleaning teeth, do you have to totally take up another career? Can you like get additional training to build up on what you have and become a dentist or do you start from scratch? Is there wiggle room? And is it true that after one year your back gives out? I hear it is hard on posture. I don't know if there is not a better way to make 64K.
