I am a tax preparer and i would advise you to make sure all taxes are done properly and if you are a business owner or self employed make sure all deductions are in order and you keep all receipts the irs loves to audit the self employed and they pay close attention to all receipts and deductions.the reason for this is it is very easy for people to lie about being self employed and then they try to claim the EIC credit. The irs also pays close attention to people that file the EIC credit now because people are letting other people claim there kids to get the big EIC credit and this is very easy for the irs to find out.

Usually, the less forms you file, the better when it come to avoiding an audit. Of course, the less you make, the more likely you are to avoid an audit. Probably one of the best ways to avoid an audit is to use a computer tax program like TurboTax, and to be scrupulously honest in answering the questions.
