Iran has blocked access to Facebook, should we retaliate? If so how?

how? By doing nothing
This is just a networking site find an alternative there are plenty. Does the shotdown of Facebook bother iranin youth that much?
Personaly i wouldnt do anything that will get me killed over Facebook, but if the sense of injustice is so great that as a man you cant live with this wrong that has been forced upon you then fight to get Facebook back. I lived in america and there is things that are banned here too. Sure I have more tools to fight those bans, but i dont feel a huge set of injustice over me. If I was ever to a point were I needed to do something to right the wrongs that were put upon me then i would do what ever is in my power to do so. What does this mean to you? weigh your options and decide your feelings.
If by We you mean America: This has nothing to do with us better to sstay out of it. If people want facbook that bad they will do somehting about it.

M$The way I look at it: somebody has already asked this question. I'm assuming that you live in Iran because you said 'we'. Look for other groups that might be fighting for Facebook access. You might be able to help some group that already has its foundations.
But let's be honest: I don't think it's worth it. You are gambling your life for a social networking website! I have a Facebook profile, so I know how addictive it can be. But resist the urge, and look at the situation positively. Now you have more time to actually TALK with friends, read a book, or whatever else floats your boat.
If you decide to do something, remember: be careful. Resisting any government puts you on their bad side, and you don't want to do that (or let them know). I hope I helped; have a great day!!!

M$As you indicate, it would be extremely difficult to rebel. This might be a relatively insignificant issue, but how would you rebel in such a country anyway? Are citizens allowed to own weapons? If not, you can shout yourself into oblivion but nothing will happen - ask England and Australia how well they can affect their gov't when totally disarmed.
If you think banning a website is a bummer. Try installing a satellite dish in your roof to get your tv. You can go to jail in Iran for that.
There is a popular saying "When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do" and "You get the government that you deserve"
Iran is a conservative muslim nation. You cant force your liberal views and democratic style of government into them. Iran in fact enforces Sharia Law. Women have limited human rights and is not treated as equals like Men. That pretty sums up the whole middle east.
They had a Islamic Revolution in 1979 and Ayatollah Khomeini until now still basically runs the whole country. Even if their citizens elects their own President.
So the Iranian public can only blame themselves for the government they have. If the majority of the public chooses reforms then they would elect liberal politicians to office.
There is a lot of hate between America and Iran. History will prove that Iran has been screwed by America in the past. With the CIA and Economic Hitman. Iran has always been portrayed as an Evil Empire by the media. So you cant blame Iran for calling America the Great Satan! Its all just propaganda.
Personally I have met Iranians and they are very nice people. I have played football with them and they are quite good. My dad once worked for an Iranian boss and he has always been treated well.

M$The United States is also going after satellite dishes.
A Staten Island man will spend six years in prison for providing a satellite package which includes the Hezbollah television channel "Al Manar".

Even on more liberal middle east muslim countries. Women still have limited human rights. I can cite an example like Dubai.
If woman if she got pregnant out wedlock. She will go to prison for immorality. I personally know a friend who worked overseas in Dubai who had to leave the country to give birth to her baby.

I have to disagree with "Women have limited human rights and is not treated as equals like Men. That pretty sums up the whole middle east"
There are some very conservative Islamic nations in the Middle East, but not all are. Since the war began, people pretty much lump the Middle East into one big pot as far as laws and customs. The cultures in this area of the world differ greatly and so do the laws. Iran and Saudi Arabia along with Afghanistan do not constitute the entire middle east.
Women have rights. The population as a whole, regardless of gender has rights. They are just much different than our own.
Banning communication is a bummer. Publishing works by Iranian authors in the United States will get you thrown in jail. The American public are to blame for the government they have.
