It's difficult to help you without having the error codes. Looks like you did go through the checks and resets Apple recommends, right?
If that didn't help I think you are right - a trip to the Apple Store is next.

Ipod Classic has Every Error, help!
My Ipod Classic (No video, it does have the spin wheel though. 60 Gigs) has every possible error that an iPod of its generation can have, and I've done everything Apple said on there support site at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ Sadly, nothing changed. Any suggestions other than taking it to the Apple store?
