Super Monkey Ball and Space Ace both look good on the iPad in 2X mode, - in general more 'cartooney' games look good.
But if you compare the iPad and iPhone versions of games like FieldRunners or Xplane, you will see that the iPad versions look way better. My opinion is that it is worth paying extra for the iPad version of a game.

I have always loved the Asphalt series in mobile phones. I have heard that they rock on the iPhone/iPad too. The screenshots look awesome. But to me it depends on the quality of the graphics if I can enjoy the game or not. And fortunately, with my IPhone I don't have to complain about bad quality.
