Technically, yes, it is legal to download a movie you already own, because you have the licensing rights to play it. However, usually, while you are downloading a torrent, you are also uploading it. That is illegal, because now you are sharing it to others who may not have the licensing rights to it. If you stop the upload as soon as the download finishes, then you will probably be fine, but you could in theory still be charged. Download at your own risk.

I think so, as stupid as it sounds: you are allowed to make backup copies of the movies you own though.

I may very well be wrong but, I think that when you 'purchase legitimately' a movie/game/song that you now own the licensing rights of it. So, then you would be able to download it, burn it, make a backup of it so long as you don't go against the copyright law regarding who you give them to.

Using Bit Torrent (or any other torrent download engins) is technically not illegal. Its distributing and uploading that is illegal! But when you download with Bit Torrent ( Or any other ) you are uploading at the same time ( Thats how torrents work ).

I am not sure if you can turn off the upload completely, and even if you can you might have low or even none download speed as the most trackers ( torrent sites ) only allow you to download if you also upload.

I have seen on U Torrent ( the one I use ) that you can only place a maximum upload speed where 0 is unlimited so the lowest is 1.

But if it cames to download torrents: "Clonning is not kidnaping / Copying is not stealing." ^^ have fun!

(having a copy of a game is not illegal as long as you have the original game)
