Question

Help me find the right TV Stand!
See photo. This example would be perfect if it weren't for the shoddy workmanship and poor quality materials (it's LAU 186885, $200 @ circuit city outlet). I'm looking for a TV stand that's 28" or less high, 60" or less wide and about 20" deep. The key feature is the space in the middle for my center channel speaker, which is 17"w, 7"h, 8.5"d. Doors are required, but they don't need to be glass--hiding the A/V components entirely would be fine. Bonus for any clever ventilation features designed to keep the equipment from overheating without adding significant noise.

I just ordered some bathroom cabinets online and got my money's worth. give them a try, all work is done custom, you tell them how you want it done, they are very helpful. Order a custom TV stand cabinet online.

Go to IKEA. They have everything, and on the cheap too. One style usually comes in multiple finishes (i.e., black, cherry, beach, etc).

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked carefully at their stuff and sadly didn't find a unit that meets my specific needs.

I know how you feel. I actually have an IKEA piece (bookcase) that has three center support beams. I turned it on its side, and bought caster wheels for the base. Not screwing any of the center beams into the pre-drilled slots, I was able to move them around to accomodate my center channel. I left one support out altogether.
