Warning About Influenza Questions
Answered Question

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
how is tamiflu resistance tested (to identify flu resistant to tamiflu treatment)?
this has been in the news, but i haven't seen anything explaining how resistance is confirmed. connected with this, but entirely optional to an answer: (1) how long does it take to test one specimen for resistance? (2) when resistance was found in the news-reported cases, was it probably true that all of the flu virus in the person's body was resistant, or only a subset? (3) has loss of resistance--e.g., after a particular drug stops being widely used--ever been documented (probably in a lab, and not from people)?
