Do you think that the band Pavement is going to get back together for a reunion show/tour?

Rumors are swirling that they may be playing this year's Coachella festival. Anyone have any guesses or info on whether or not this is going to happen?

I've heard the same thing... underground. I'm really hoping it's true.

Stephen Malkmus did an interview last year with Entertainment Weekly where he said "Something small in 10 years like the Zeppelin thing sounds good to me," referring to their one-night-only London show. In the same interview, Mark Ibold and Scott Kannberg both indicated they would be willing as well.

They haven't updated their MySpace page since November, but they did do the Brighten Your Corners contest in December, so even with their individual gigs, they obviously still promote together... My fingers are crossed!

Hopefully not. Most of this band's popularity came from them spaming users with their music in the early days of Napster by mislabeling their work as if it were the songs of legitimate bands, in particluar, Weezer.

The mislabeling of the music on Napster or any other P2P network is a great example of the potential pitfalls of letting "the masses" do the tagging without a method for correcting it.

If the Internet is good for anything, it's passing information around so fast, it can't be taken back or even mitigated if it turns out to be wrong. Speed and power have their price!
