India is devoid of initiating war and imperialism. What makes India a peaceful nation? Will India prosper from its peace?

India is primarily Hindi - a religion with many gods.
in history we see monotheistic societies being the primary instigators of religious (as opposed to territory) based wars.
IMHO
Maybe its due to a culture of tolerance which xenophobic societies - with few choices or exposure to different points of view - do not seem to have.
YMMV

M$Another explanation is simpler, as the demand for resources increases the country will react by conquering others. Just wait a while India will soon start to obtain new resources.

It seems intolerance is caused by pain. The more pain a person experiences the less likely he will be kind and understanding unless his belief systems suggest otherwise.
What are the beliefs and forces of intolerance
Sorry davepamn - my grammar was confused.
I meant to say that xenophobic societies do NOT have a culture of tolerance.
I believe this is because they regard all ''others'' as wrong and so are intolerant.
The same for monotheism. The idea that their can only be one true god - means all others must be evil and therefore not tolerated.
In India we see more tolerance because (in part) of the polytheistic religions.
Intolerance is not caused by pain - it is caused by fear.
Fear of difference.
If it was pain then an alternative solution would be automatically rejected by an entity in pain. which is not a survival strategy we "grasp at straws" when we are in pain.
Fear of change balanced with the desire to know more (curiosity) is humanities motivation. We like things to remain the way they are and we want things to change because we want to know more. These two aspects are in tension in our species. To a greater or lesser degree in all people.
Intolerance is the reaction to the overwhelming desire for things to remain at they are. It is bred in comfort - in good times, and in the fear of what change will bring.
Will you explain why xenophobic societies less likely to be tolerant of other cultures?
