In your opinion, who is the greatest folk hero ever? Why?

Every culture has its folk heroes. You know the ones? People like Robin Hood, or El Cid, or Johnny Appleseed or Paul Bunyan. Out of all the folk heroes who ever existed, which one do you think is the greatest? And why?

I personally am a huge fan of both the tales of Robin Hood and the Arthurian legends, but personally, I think the greatest folk hero ever was probably Guan Yu, an ancient Han-Chinese general, a man who, slowly, over the course of the almost two thousand years since his death, rose in rank until he was finally deified (I think during the Ming dynasty, possibly early Qing), and is now worshiped as a God by many. But that's just what I think. I'd like to hear your opinions instead.

Beowulf. His story is literally one of the oldest but is still very good. Beowulf is taught in classrooms and there's even movies about his story.

Beowulf is a king and a warrior. He's meant to be what every man is suppose to dream himself to be: Strong, fearless and adventurous.

Beowulf is the hero that kills the monsters others cannot because he is strong and overcomes any and all evil that gets in his way

Ah, Beowulf, the oldest surviving work of fiction in Old English, if I'm not mistaken. I literally grew up on this story (my Mother is a huge fan of Old English literature). Nice answer!
