In your opinion, was Hitler an Idiot or a Misguided Genius?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

He was much smarter than we give him credit for, he had an ability to rally people in his favor and start a movement, when he achieved power he controlled everything and everyone to serve his own self interest. His mental health is debatable though.

Neither. He was a sociopathic dictator who thrived on chaos and cruelty.

Hitler was neither--in my opinion he was the embodiment of pure evil.

Under that definition, could he not still fit into the category of "Genius"?

I also think he was neither, he was a person with serious mental problems which were not properly addressed when he was young.

His rise to power was no completely lawful, he ran into trouble and was became a sort of political refuge for a while before coming into power. He learned how to play the system, which is clever, but I would not classify him as a genius.

But strategically and politically, the way that he worked his way into power and the way that he NEVER broke any law in his rise to power (after his prison term), would he not also fit into the category of "Genius"?

He was a vegetarian...

I think he got dropped on the wrong side of the head to kill that many people and still not consider eating meat. Just my opinion.

Hitler was not very smart, probably too self-centered for that: it is well known that he never listened to anybody's advice, and that is not smart. Think about declaring war east and west for instance. How can that be smart? He was good at manipulation, like most psychopaths. Certainly not a genius (he never did anything that qualifies). and certainly not misguided: he was bad all by himself, just like Charles Manson. You must be much younger than me: you would not have to ask!

The comparison between Hitler and Manson is not to say that they are equal in crime, that would be silly, it was just to give an example of a psychopath. And Manson "innocent"? Even him did not say that.

He didn't say that because he's insane, which is one more point towards his innocents.

Charles Manson is much more innocent than Hitler. Charles Manson got caught up in red tape that landed him in prison. I'd talk more about Hitler, but I'm going to wait for a few more opinions before going against all who've responded.
