Homosexuals can get married in Canada, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Mexico City, Argentina, and South Africa. However, some places will not recognize the marriage.
In the United States, homosexuals can get married legally in the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa and Washington D.C.
The states that will honor and recognize a same sex marriage that was legally performed includes: Washington D.C., Rhode Island, New Mexico, California and New York.
As the laws have changed with California, couples that were legally joined in matrimony between the months of June and November in 2008 are still valid.
