In this economy, would you pay $50 per pound for cheddar cheese?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Oh yes... but probably just a morsel at that price enough for me and my husband to have a slice with a good glass of wine. I adore cheese, I'm one of those people that's known on a first name basis in cheese shops. Someday i may buy a cow just to make my own cheese. And honestly, 50 dollars a pound is cheap compared to some cheese...

I wouldn't pay $50 for a pound of any kind of cheese in any economy -- except perhaps if inflation made all cheese cost $50 per pound. I'm cheap, though. I do my grocery shopping at Costco. I buy their Kirkland cheese. I'm snobby about being cheap the same way other people are snobby about all the expensive food they buy, I guess. I feel smug though, because I have money left over for other things, and all they have is their expensive cheese.

No, I can pass the cheddar cheese as much as I love cheese I would pass on this one in any economy but maybe I would pay that for Bufala mozzarella once in a while.
