In Hawkings radiation, a thermal state is a mixed state, suggesting information had to be thrown away while converting. Why?
The MIXED state is described quantum mechanically by a density matrix rather than a wave function. Why does this mean information is thrown away?

In the mixed state, the radiation from a black hole depends solely on the mass, charge, and angular momentum of the singularity at its center. Any information contained in whatever falls into a black hole is eventually reduced to a change in the black hole's basic parameters, meaning that the Hawking radiation from two black holes containing different sets of information will be identical if they share the same physical characteristics.

Logically, does that mean that Hawkings radiation is incorrect? The reason for the error is that information can not be destroyed.
