In Enter the Dragon, is the Bruce Lee character ever actually referred to as "the dragon"?
I've always assumed that the Bruce Lee character was the "dragon" of the title.
Is this correct?
Whether it is, or whether it isn't, is there any significance to the name of the movie beyond the fact that it's a cool sounding title?

I believe "Enter the Dragon" refers to the island or the complex.
Kinda like that phrase "enter the belly of the beast"
it's the most dangerous place the be.
I can see how you would interprit it as an announcment "now entering, the Dragon"
But i believe it refers to him going to the dangerous island, knowing it was the lair of a foul beast.

Thank you
It is true he was nick named Dragon. His name in chinese literally means "little Dragon." His biographical movie is entitled "Dragon".
But this was his first, true American film. An American wrote this script. Maybe they would've liked the idea of the play on words, but for the most part, i think they wouldn't have been that informed, neither would have the public. Bruce lee was a huge star in Hong Kong, but it wasn't until after this movie (unfortunately after his death) that he became a house hold name in the U.S.
I hadn't really thought about it much before, but i would really like to know the meaning of this title now.
I agree, yours is a very plausible meaning, but like you said his real name, or the nick name "Dragon" is never mentioned in the movie. It would almost be like Arnold's movie "True Lies" being entitled "The Secrets of the Terminator". We would know what it meant, but it would have nothing to do with the movie.

in the Fun stuff- "trivia" section, it is mentioned that they considered entitling the movie "Han's Island". Possibly more evidence of my island theory.
It seems he also appeared in at least one other "Dragon" movie...
