Jobs are employment - working for a company, full-time, long-term, etc. More of a formal thing.
Gigs (the word is what musicians call an engagement where they are paid to play) are more of a temporary, one-time job and they are usually of a creative nature -- musician, writer, stripper, sign painting, etc. More of a casual thing.
