Here are my impressions:
#1 I am 100% convinced the passage of this bill was due in large part to Jon Stewart's efforts.
#2 If the parts about Jon Stewart were taken out, and this article was posted by Time Magazine about a year ago, I would have considered it a "Timely" piece, but as it came out now, and with zinger lines like "(Stewart may have taken outrage lessons on the issue from his buddy Rep. Anthony Weiner with whom he's shared a South Hampton summer sublet.)", I'm un-impressed, to say the least.
It is, as Stewart pointed out on multiple occasions, insane that the only real coverage this bill received came from a "comedy show" (side note: the ONLY thing I have against Jon Stewart is that he insists on saying his show is comedy/entertainment and not news.)
OK. I've taken a few breaths now.. Is Time Magazine a prestigious publication? Yes. Are they at the same level as they were in the past? Not quite (in my opinion). Does Jon Stewart deserve a humanitarian award that we have not yet invented? Yes..
Side Note: Mike Huckabee was the guest on the Daily Show that night, and if you watched the interview, you can see how Stewart politely (although pulling hair out at the same time) persuaded Huckabee to start up the Fox News outrage engine.
Side Side Note: The Daily Show is the ONLY show where I have seen sides of politicians like Mike Huckabee, and the former entity that was John McCain, that I can relate to (not necessarily agree with, but relate to). That is the power of Jon Stewart.

EXCELLENT POINTS, The thing that bothers me is that a show such as that on COMEDY CENTRAL is more reliable than the news on FOX
