I'm taking a trip to the dark side of the moon. Should I bring a flashlight?

Is it truly dark on the dark side of the moon, or will there be ambient light from the stars?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

There is ambient starlight, and without an atmosphere or clouds, that starlight will be clearer and more consistent. Also, at least near the dividing line between the dark and lit sections, there will be some small amount of light reflected and refracted from dust-clouds resulting from the occasional meteor hitting the surface. Having said all that, don't expect to have enough light to read a book there, or any other task requiring normal daylight levels of illumination. For that you'd do well to carry a flashlight.

Well, I'd get stir crazy without something to read...I'll need plenty of batteries, too.

Batteries may not work too well in the cold temperatures you'd encounter on the dark side of the moon... Perhaps a recumbent-bike-powered generator... I can already see it in my mind's eye :).

Take a solar powered flash light, just to be on the safe side ;)
