I'm saving up for a new system but I can't decide PS3 or Xbox 360... Please vote and give a short explanation as to why.

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That depends on what you're looking for.

As a gaming system the Xbox 360 wins hands-down. It's cheaper, has a larger, better library of games, and the online features are much simpler.

I will say that the PS3 is great as a home theatre addition. It plays blue-ray and it's much better at storing and playing music and movie files. But, there are very few exclusive titles worth your time and formerly exclusive games are breaking with Sony and going multi-platform due to the lack of consumer interest.

If you're looking for a media center the PS3 is your best bet, but if you're looking for a gaming console XBOX 360 is, in my opinion the best option.

Also I recommend checking out this article covering the two major controllers that each console introduced at the most recent E3 so you know what to expect in the second half of the console cycle.

I have an Xbox 360 and love it despite the fact that I havehad to have it replaced due to over heating. It's still under warranty so I haven't had to pay a dime for a replacement system. My cousin has had the 360 for almost as long as I have then 6 months ago bought a PS3, he's now trying to sell it on ebay because he doesn't use it as much as his 360. I also have several friends online that have both, but have said that the online experience is better with Xbox Live then with the PS3. Also the 360 is better priced, hope this helps.

Not sure how much you've got saved up, but amazon has a decent deal going on for the PS3.

the main difference is
PS3 uses BD
while XBOX360 uses DVD

there for

in two years -at most- XBOX360 is a goner
while PS3 will still be powerful enough to play games

read the Wikipedia article about BD

I sold my 40Gb PS3
and seriously consider buying the 80Gb NTSC or 160Gb but waiting till FF13 is on shelves

===================================================
the only considerable argument for XBOX360 fans
would be HALO

Go with a PS3! Graphics are comparable to or better than 360, controller is more comfortable, the system is very quiet (unlike the extremely noisy 360), and has been working without a problem for the past 18 months (my 360 had to be repaired twice).
