I'm planning to spend a day in Macau (Jan. 1) with my family. Can anyone give tips on where to go?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Fernando's down by Hac Sa beach. It's out of the way of the casinos, in a quiet corner of Macu. (although Macau is small so not too far away!)
It does traditional Portuguese dishes and fantastic Chicken dishes.
Taxi drivers know where it is, you can just say 'Fernando's' and they'll know what you mean.
It's cheap and fairly basic but has a great atmosphere.
Tip - You can walk through to the back where they have the court yard and dining room as opposed to sitting in the front.

I also found this clip of Macau in 1960, should help get you pumped up for your trip.

Thanks for this tip, the thing is, I have a 7 year old daughter with me, so the Casinos are definitely out of the question (although I think we can roam around the Venetian), but Fernando's seem to be an idea place to have lunch!
