I'm never read this book, what's so special about it?

I CAN read it...
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would highly recommend that you buy it and read it asap. This is one of the greatest novels written in the history of man about racial injustice
"To Kill a Mockingbird is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee published in 1960. It was instantly successful and has become a classic of modern American literature. The plot and characters are loosely based on the author's observations of her family and neighbors, as well as on an event that occurred near her hometown in 1936, when she was 10 years old.
The novel is renowned for its warmth and humor, despite dealing with serious issues of rape and racial inequality"( quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_kill_a_mockingbird#Death_of_innocence)

I was previleged to read this novel at school and also watch the movie both especially the novel is pure class. I don't know what to say being a black man now that i am thinking about it for me it was very emotional. Forgive me if i do not elaborate enough on the novel because when i sit down and think about the hardships our ancestors face due to slavery is very painful just because of race. Also this book has offered so much to readers i probably can write a hole novel about it. The name of the novel is a gem i think it sums up everything about the book completely. i would advise you to read this link to understand fully what this book is about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_kill_a_mockingbird#Death_of_innocence. Highly recommended a must read.

Largely, it's a matter of style. Harper Lee is an engaging writer. The narrative voice shifts between youth and age, and readers connect with that voice. She brings the reader into the Southern culture, both good and bad.

That style was used to great effect in telling an important story about race and race relations. That was especially important in the period the book was written, as serious racial unrest was growing in the US.

A few paragraphs don't do the book justice; many volumes of analysis have been written. The point is that the book is considered great because it's both enjoyable to read and thought-provoking.
