We always went camping and celebrated the holiday in a very fun manor. The picnic was planned carefully, burgers grilled,brats, hot dogs, salads that included potatao, taco and macaroni, chips dips and many deserts. We would always camp at a place that had activitey for the whole family. Swimming, put-put golf and arcade games. The most inportant thing was the camp fire and s-mores. For the last few years however, something has gone wrong where everyone could not attend. So camping at a child friendly place is a great place to go. Even an amusement park could be plenty of fun !!

Oh no, apparently I missed the date, but you can always plan for next year. What my parents used to do is take us up to the local park, for me that's thatcher park in NY. We would have a picnic and sit and chat which we never got to do very often as a family. Afterwords we would walk the trails and see the sights, take silly pictures on a disposable camera, and my parents would try to teach us about the bugs and plants that grew around there. I miss those days :)

It's past labor day now but hope the answer is still helpful.

Kids love to spend time with people who love them, especially family members.
If outdoor:
- camping or hiking are fun. It creates a natural scenario for all of you to help each other, thus strengthened the relationship. Your kids can also learn some survivor skills and get to see the wonders of nature.
- Canoeing, kayaking, flying kites, going to the beach, are all fun. If there's anything that they haven't tried before, it will be even better as they will always remember their first time doing something new.

If indoor:
- teach them a new skill, like cooking, making some crafts, making a kite and then go try out their own kites.
- plan a scavanger hunt game around your yard, (give them a fist clue and they search for the second one, then the second clue leads to the third, and so on, till they find the mystery prize)

Well, i hope you had a fun labor day, and have fun with your kids on the coming holidays.
oh, and it's always good to take pictures to help remember all the good times you have together. Sometimes, some of them will not be so happy with some activities, but when they grow up, they might have a good laugh recalling it.
