If you have itunes, use the genius feature. You select music you like, and it will suggest music to you - a lot of the times its music that you have never heard of. (if you dont have itunes, you can download it for free.)
You can also do a Google search for some indie type sites, and listen to some music on there.
Or use a web radio player such as Pandora - type in an artist you like, and it will play similar artist/music like that, and whenever I listen, there is always new music and artists that I have not heard before.
Same with HD radio or even Satellite radio. They tend to play new artists and songs a lot too.
