I'm looking for a good upright electric piano for under $1000. Any suggestions? What are good brands?

I want one with 88 weighted keys, touch sensitive, usb/midi capabilities, effects, and a headphone jack. I would love to spend less than $600 but don't want to end up buying a low quality piano that will break on me. Does anyone have any first hand experience buying an electric piano?
Tip for best answer: M$5.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There aren't a whole lot of electric uprights in the $600 range, although there are a few, including the Yamaha YPG-625 (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-YPG625-88Key-Weighted-Portable-Grand-Keyboard?sku=707462) and DGX-620 (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=500722V) or the Williams Overture (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Williams-Overture-88-Key-Digital-Piano?sku=703035).

In the same price range your best bet may be to buy a regular keyboard with weighted keys, such as the M-Audio ProKeys 88. You'll have to buy a stand for it, but those aren't too pricey and it is otherwise a great value. M-Audio makes good products and this keyboard likely has quality samples.

Luckily, almost all electric keyboards in your price range include USB/MIDI capabilities, effects, headphone jacks, and many additional sounds other than acoustic piano.
