about How To Train For Your First Marathon (Even If You're Out Of Shape)
I'm in poor shape after having heart bypass surgery in 2006. I need a training schedule to begin training for a marathon hopefully next yea
As stated, I had double heart bypass surgery in May 2006 and pretty much remained a couch potato from then until January of this year when I started walking. I have followed a fast walk regiment since March of this year and am up to 7.5 miles per day, 5 days per week now. I would like to start training to run a marathon in the spring of next year if at all possible. I have just started to jog just a little during my walk. I'm in need of a conservative training regiment to get me ready for a half marathon or full marathon by fall of 2011. Can you recommend something for me?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I can't in good conscious give you advice for training and exercise due to your medical history. It's extremely important that you contact a qualified medical professional for help in this mater.

I've been cleared by a medical doctor to begin the program however he is not a sports doctor and definitely not into running. I've got enough common sense to begin slowly. I started this venture in January of this year by walking around a mile per day. I have built up to 8-10 miles per day now with intermittent jogging. I'm guessing that I might be jogging around 1/2 mile per day at this point in my training. I just need advise on how to continue.
