I'm going to St Thomas USVI...what's fun to do on the island in January?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

St Thomas is one of my favorite Caribbean islands. Shopping is special in Charlotte Amalie, has intriguing narrow streets with unique shops, be ready to shop. There are hilltops with beautiful views, my favorite are the one from Blackbeards Castle that looks out over the bay where the cruise ships dock. Another beautiful view is from Drakes Seat... Where Sir Francis Drake would sit and look at his fleet in Magens Bay Beach... beautiful view, you will find yourself wanting to sit there a long time... but try not to there are sooo many other places to go. One of which is to get on a boat and make your way over to St. John... that has I believe the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Trunk Bay is probably one of the most famous snorkeling beaches in the world. I don't think you will find much argument about that. The Island of St. John is pristine and 2/3 of the island is a U.S National Park. If you are not yourself a snorkeler... make sure that you find the Atlantis Submarine tour... because you just need to see what is under that pristine blue water. Another way to see the island and the islands around it is to take the Paradise Point St Thomas Skyride up 700 feet above Charlotte Amalie for a breathtaking view. These are just the highlights but some of my favorite ones... okay thinking about all of this is making me want to take off for one of the most beautiful places in America. Have a wonderful time... if you think about it when you get back would love to hear about the great time I know you are going to have.

St. Thomas is a duty free port, so the shopping can be great. Best items to look for are jewelry, liquor, perfume, electronics and linens. Particularly with the jewelry stores, demand a better price! Most jewelry stores have very high markups and you can get at least 40-50% off. Liquor prices are unbelievable and US Citizens can take back (5) 750 ml bottles with no duty. (You can take a 6th, if it is locally produced and Cruzan Rum is great!)

There is also some very high end shopping at the new Yacht Haven Grande marina. Stores include Bulgari, Gucci, Faragamo, Louis Vuitton, and many others. Just saving the import duty can be worth a trip here.

We have some awesome restaurants, including Oceana, Room With A View, Banana Tree Grill, Herve's, Craig and Sally's, Grand Cru, Wicked, Havana Blue and many more.
