If you're a blogger, how do you get yourself to post regularly?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I do have a couple of blogs-one with Word Press and one with Blogger. Since I write pages for Mahalo, I am always posting my pages on Posterous and from there it posts to my two blogs along with other pages. This makes blogging easier since I really don't have the time to post to each blog regularly.

I think people start blogs with good intentions of blogging regularly but it gets to be quite a chore to try to keep up with all new material. I find the way I am doing the blogs make it easier for my readers and myself. :-)

Some blogs allow you to schedule posts. This means that you can write when you have the time, and have them post throughout the week to keep your content fresh. I am sure that Blogger has this option, and I am quite sure that Wordpress does too.

Also, if you too busy to sit at the computer, you can post to sites like Posterous from your email, and Tumblr has an app to post from your mobile phone too.

If it's more a matter of having time, you need to try to put yourself on a schedule.

I have a blog, though I don't know if I'd consider myself to be a blogger or not. I post very rarely. In fact, the sole reason I went ahead and wrote my last post was simply because it had been so long; not because I really wanted to. I think blogger burnout is pretty common. No one is really as enthusiastic about their blog after a few months compared to when they first started. It gets repetitive, and finding new topics gets harder and harder. The more stuff you write, the more you've already said and the harder it is to come up with something fresh.

I think the best motivation to ensure that you post regularly is to have a group of enthusiastic readers who message you and ask you to answer their questions or write about certain topics. It's kind of a catch 22 situation though, as you usually have to blog for a long time and write a whole bunch of quality content before you get your own dedicated base of readers.
