If you were buying someone first homebrewing kit, where would you suggest first purchasing?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

When my husband started his home brewing, we started him off with the Mr. Beer Home Brew kit. It has everything you need to get started as well as instructions that will benefit you throughout your brewing process. I highly recommend this kit as it is reasonably priced and has everything you need.

I have seen the kit for sale at various retailers, such as:
Bed, Bath & Beyond
Amazon.com
MrBeer.com

I dont' mean to sound off negatively on the Mr. Beer kit but my hubby had one and it didn't turn out too well. It leaked pressure and still leaked even after ordering replacement parts. The beer was good and convenient way to make but with the hassle (replacement parts, constant buying of the CO2 cartridges), I would have preferred to go to a local home brew place and buy what the majority of local home brewers are buying. Just my 2 cents...
