If you wanted to compete with dropbox, how would you go about it?
How would you inexpensively store data and compete with dropbox?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1 - Enter frontal competition with DropBox: you will need lots of $€ to buy servers, disk space, bandwidth and special computer centers with redundant power and net. Building the software would also take money... but "only" 10% of the hardware stuff.
Important note: remember that you must PROVE that your business, or more precisely your customers' data will survive an earthquake, a tsunami and a tornado!
2 - Another story would be to propose DropBox-like services, either just the program (hardware, network and backup being owned by the user) or some type of equivalent service, maybe with lower costs
