If you only had 15 min per day, what marketing task would you do for your company?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would call 5 existing or past customers. I would call just to make sure that they're doing ok and ask if there was anything that I could do for them.

Long term, I would spend a day in solidarity with this book: http://www.amazon.com/Guerrilla-Marketing-4th-Inexpensive-SmallBusiness/dp/0618785914/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

I don't particularly subscribe to all of the "Guerrilla" ideas. However, every time I pick this book up, I'm given a quick and easy idea of something I can be doing.

So, I'd spend a full day doing nothing but brainstorming quick-and-easy ideas that relate directly to my business. I would write each of these ideas on a whiteboard.

When I had 15 minutes, I would look up at the whiteboard and give myself "10 points" for every one I did. I wouldn't erase any of them, but I would see how many points I could accumulate in a week. If I achieved over 100 points (or something), I'd treat myself to something special like an extra expensive meal or a movie.

I would get out and start meeting people. Figuring out what I can do for them to help them achieve their goals. This would NOT be focused on trying to sell them something... just getting to know them.

To this, I recommend Referral of a Lifetime:

15 minutes is very little time to conduct a meaningful marketing effort, so it is important to use it wisely.

Customer contact is critical, but the answer depends somewhat on the type of business that you are in and what kind of product or service you are offering.

If you are selling inexpensive merchandise in the retail market, I believe that your 15 minutes should be spent blogging about your product. It's quick, easy and inexpensive to post a few comments about your product, even if it's just a few useful words on Twitter.

If you are selling higher cost merchandise or professional services, the time would be better spent one-on-one with potential / existing / former customers via a personal phone call.

The information that you blog about or discuss in the phone calls should be born out of a thoughtful process that takes (much more than) 15 minutes. But once that marketing material / strategy has been developed, committing 15 minutes a day is a good start.

I would do 1 of the following tasks:
- Call at least 1 customer and get feedback from them. What they liked, what they didn't like, improvements, etc... The reason why I said only one customer is that I don't want the conversation to feel rushed.
- Make contact with a referral from either a customer or cold call
- Work on SEO for my website. Backlinks, optimize, etc...
- Write a blog post on recent news or happenings. That and twitter.
- Work social networking sites to keep my posts/comments/links on the top of the activity lists.

Once again, with 15 minutes, I would only do one of these but doing them all over a course of a few months, I believe you will see positive results.
