If you live with chronic pain, do you find ways to still enjoy life and function daily. How do it affect your life? How do you deal with it?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1. Seek treatment
Chronic pain is a medical condition and it’s treatable. Patient should seek doctor’s advice to ascertain root cause, types and treatment.
Merck manual is a good medical reference.
Info on chronic pain:
http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec16/ch209/ch209b.html?qt=chronic%20pain&alt=sh
From the website, some treatments mentioned:
Drugs: Analgesics include NSAIDs, opioids, and adjuvant analgesics
Physical methods: Spray-and-stretch techniques, orthosis, spinal cord stimulation
Psychologic treatments:
cognitive techniques of pain control (eg, relaxation training, distraction techniques, hypnosis, biofeedback)
2. Beware of behavior of family members that reinforces pain behavior (eg, constant inquiries about the patient's health or insistence that the patient do no chores). Family members need counselling too.
3. Live normally, as if no chronic pain
Chronic pain and its intensity has some psychological components. Distraction helps.
4. Fill yourself with happy experiences
Our brain has natural opioids that can relieve pain.. it will be released when someone is happy. Thus, relaxation, biofeedback etc.. may help.. Martin Seligman’s website on positive psychology is a good resource.
Count your blessings, help others, praying etc..
5. Accupuncture may help too..
This is a good info source too.
