If you leave you car unlocked does your insurance company have the right to deny your claim?

Tip for best answer: M$0.11
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes they do because you lack evidence that it was broken into in the first place. They don't deny your claim and say, "hey, that's what you get for being dumb and leaving your door unlocked."
They say, "hey, how do i know someone actually broke in your car and that your stolen Justin Beiber collection isn't actually hidden in your closet?"

You have to have some kind of evidence that you were robbed.

Next time, break a window or something. (j/k)

It depends on the terms and condition of the policy. Read it carefully. I don't think by living the door unlocked you make a blunder and an unlocked door is not a justification to steal. Thieves don't care whether the door is locked or not. So discuss with your legal adviser if the insurance company refuses to pay.
