If you know someone who you think has crossed the line from collector to an actual hoarder, what do you do?

As an obsessive compulsive, albeit one with no significant hoarding tendencies, I recommend contacting the OCD foundation and going from there.

M$1. enthusiastic response...go for it! help them hold the sale and go shopping for something permanent ( non-hoard item ). Tell them you were worried ...
2. Half and half, not great on the idea, not against either. Here you can push a bit and say how nice it would be for the collection to take shape, be refined :) Helpp them sort or argue about the benefits, they might come around to your thinking.
3. Nasty response in some way...well, its time to say the necessary words - you have a problem letting this stuff go. Explain what its all for? Help me understand why you are doing this?
If you can't bring up the sale idea, then just say nicely that you think they might have a problem - a bit fanatical ha ha joke joke but nice and firm :)
Hope this helps
