If you had to spend your entire life in poverty, where would you want to live and in what time frame?

In this time the Hmong were peaceful, lived off the land, required no technological advances, and grew everything they ate and made everything they had. They didn't need 'industry', weaponry, or really much technology at all. All that was required was hard work. :)

Were you part of the Hmong that worked for the CIA in Vietnem?
Sorry bklynj, I didn't see this comment until now.
No I wasn't. I was born right about the 'end' of the Vietnam War. My mom and her family saw a little of the War. She was young when it started.
I state 'end' because there are still Hmong in refugeeish camps, and Hmong are still being killed after supporting American troops. Last I heard, about four years ago, Hmong genocide was still happening. About 5 years or so ago they shipped more Hmong from those refugee camps in SE Asia. It is just amazing to me, because the War 'ended' in 1975 ish. I was born in 1985. Hmong were still being killed then. From the 'end' of the war until today has been 35 years and America is still shipping over Hmong refugees.
